What is Dichroic Glass?

Your Liquid Crystal Australia jewellery has been created using only the finest dichroic glass available.  Dichroic (pronounced dye-crow-ick) glass literally means two coloured especially when viewed from different angles.

Dichroic glass is made by fusing fine layers of Quartz Crystal and Metal Oxides  onto glass. The fusion process creates a crystal like structure which reflects an array of vibrant colours.  This is a complex process which has been mastered by only a handful of manufacturers.  

Dichroic glass does not use paints, dyes, gels or any standard colouring agents to create colour.

Does my Liquid Crystal Australia jewellery contain nickel?

All bails and silver plated necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings are nickel free. When sourcing our findings we always purchase nickel free.

What is the jewellery made of?

The earrings, rings, bracelets and pendants are made by combining silver and dichroic glass. The silver component of the rings, cuff bracelet findings and silver pendants are silver plated brass and copper. The earrings are silver plated with titanium posts/hooks. The stud earrings have surgical steel posts and butterfly backs.  The snake chains are silver plated.

Care Instructions

We recommend you take the following steps to best care for your Liquid Crystal Australia jewellery.

• Do not wear in pools or spas and avoid immersing in water and contact with chemicals.

• Always put your jewellery on last after applying make up, hairspray, moisturiser and perfumes to avoid tarnishing.

• If tarnishing occurs gently clean with a silver polishing cloth.

• We recommend storing your jewellery in an air tight container to prolong the silver shine of your piece.

Gift Box

 

Every pendant, earring, bracelet and ring is beautifully packaged in a Liquid Crystal Australia gift box.  The box is inscribed with detail about the product and its maker and is printed with the green and gold Australian Made Campaign logo, which it has been licensed to do.  Each gift box contains a Care Instructions card where recipients learn how to best look after the jewellery and enjoy it for years to come.

Sand Art & Aqua Collection

 

The Sand Art Range is made by combining pure Australian beach sand with dichroic glass.

​

The process:

Sand is put through a fine sieve to remove any foreign particles.  It is combined with dichroic glass, then fired in a kiln at between 750 and 850 degrees celsius.  The pendant is then attached to a bail and packaged to become an amazing souvenir and gift to be treasured forever.
